PRINCE2 Practitioner – Recertification changes for PRINCE2 2017

  1. Recertification changes for PRINCE2 2017

With Prince Two 2009 version, practitioners needed to pass a reregistration exam every three to five years to obtain their certification. But with the Prince 2217 Practitioner Certification, it’s valid for just three years. There will be no more reregistration exams for either Prince Two 2009 or Prince 2217, which begs question how do you keep your certification current? To refresh your certification, you will need to report 20 CPD points per year over three year cycle. A CPD is a continuing professional development point and represents 1 hour of recognized activity or study. You must also maintain an active IEP X loss membership during the cycle. If you have not reported 20 CPD points each year or have not maintained an active X loss membership during this time, you would be required to pass the full exam again. It’s a full exam.

There’s no reregistration exams. If you fail to report 20 points in a year, your digital badge will expire at the end of that renewal year. Of course, you have the option of taking the full exam every third year instead of reporting CPD points and remaining a member. However, I doubt if many people would prefer this option. Let’s consider some cases. Until the end of 2017, you can still choose to take the 2009 exam in English. The non English 2009 exams will continue to be offered until the Non English Principal 2017 Guide and Exams are developed, which is expected to be early in 2018. The English reregistration exam will also cease at the end of 2017, so if you currently have Prince 2009 Practitioner Certification and it’s still inside Year 2017, you can still do your re registration exam up to the end of the year. Other language reregistration exams will continue until sometime in 2018, as I said.

And the next case is someone who has a Prince Two 2009 certification. Harder to refresh it now, so it depends on when you pass the exam. A. If you pass the exam, the 2009 exam after Prince Two 2017 became available, which was mid 2017, then you would need to refresh it annually by maintaining an active membership for the year and reporting 20 points. B if you pass or have passed the 2009 exam before Prince 220 17 became available, then your certification will remain current until the fifth year as before fifth calendar year.

Then you transfer to refresh annually as in Point A. Important, the only way to obtain a Prince 2217 certification is by passing the Prince 2217 exam. Prince Two 2009 practitioners will always remain as Prince Two 2009 Practitioners unless they take and pass a Prince 2217 exam. A current 2009 version. Practitioner certification will still be accepted as a prerequisite for Prince two agile practitioner.
